We are Monte Farm

Meet Ken and Sonya

If anyone would’ve said that we would have a farm when we got married in 2008, we would’ve laughed out loud. We were just two kids, we could barely take care of ourselves. It’s funny how people change, because now, we cannot imagine not being farmers. No, we did not grow up showing animals at the country fair, or helping out on the family farm. So when we brought a milk cow home that needed to be milked, and we had never even touched a cow before, it was quite the challenge. Maybe it’s a bit reckless, some may call us dumb, but if anyone has a desire to learn and be connected to the food they eat, anyone can farm.

Pasture-raised Poultry

Our flock of birds provide us with beautiful rainbow eggs. We free-range our chickens which yields beautiful healthy eggs, with rich orange yolks. They are also fun companions who love to follow us around and sit on our patio. We also raise pastured meat birds.

ADGA Registered Nubian Goats

Our small herd of goats provides us with beautiful, raw organic milk. We raise our goats holistically, utilizing herbs and a mineral buffet to keep them healthy.

Registered purebred Nubian goat kids available seasonally.

The (former) queen of the Farm

What does one do when one cannot find raw milk? Buy a milk cow! Miss Molly was the Queen of the Farm, supplying us with gallons of fresh, creamy, raw milk a day. She taught us so much, and opened the door to grow our own grass-fed beef. Her creamy, rich milk fed little calves that grew up grazing our forty acres. The quality of beef was unparalleled, and we are so thankful to our sweet momma Molly for helping us do it.

Katahdin sheep

After moving to smaller acreage, we struggled with missing our cows. What could we raise on small acreage? Sheep were the perfect fit! We are enjoying our small flock of Katahdin sheep. We have since moved on to breeding and raising ADGA Nubian goats!

The garden

Amended with composted cow manure from our sweet cows, our garden of raised beds supplies ample food to enjoy and preserve.
